Spreading Hygiene and Health Awareness under the Project
Of 355 million women, only 12% women use sanitary napkins? In India, most of women use homemade products such as old fabrics, rage, sand, ash, dried leaves, etc. Around 27% of the world’s cervical cancer deaths occur because of poor menstrual hygiene. Many of girl students drop out of school when they start menstruating. Due to this, they endangering their health and putting their life at risk.
Breaking Taboos, Raising Awareness
Sahyog Human Foundation has broken the taboos and shackles related to menstrual cycle. Menstruation is a very essential natural body process among women which can’t be avoided. Therefore it is important for everybody to have awareness about menstrual hygiene. But lack of fundamental and health knowledge, it becomes difficult for many women, especially in rural areas to perceive the long term outcome of poor menstrual hygiene and they finally wind up with a lot of health issues such as infertility, etc. Awareness at the right time can make a big difference in the improvement of their health.
How Sahyog Human Foundation is Empowering Women
Sahyog Human Foundation is an organization who works for social cause of Women Empowerment and it is one among the few initiatives that aim at spreading awareness about menstruation in Government School as well as distributing the Sanitary Napkins of free of cost on monthly basis. To ease the Children to express their views about their concerns, volunteers start with asking basic questions. Many feels hesitate to share any information because they are unaware about the happening within their own body. But with the support of volunteers they express their views.
After that, volunteers can create awareness and answers basic concerns. They educate the students about the proper usage and disposal of Sanitary Napkins as well. The Government teachers are also encouraging the volunteers.
In this awareness campaign, there is also a free distribution of Sanitary Napkins to the girls to encourage usage.
Things are changing slowly but they want to empower every single woman. They need a little support from each and every one for the better of our society. Sahyog have made a difference through their dedication, hard work and continued support to the students. As long as people like that they are working for the betterment of society. In fact, other schools have started approaches the volunteers to conduct the similar program.
